NWS firmly supports career development. Most Supervisors and District Managers have started their employment with the organization as custodians or specialists, and through personal merit and organizational motivation, have grown within the ranks and eventually have become part of the supervisory and/or management team.
Cross Training, regular performance evaluations and continuous motivation and encouragement provided by the supervisory/management team, have been key elements in ensuring career development opportunities to every employee interested in promotional opportunity.
Once a custodian has completed the first continuous six months of employment, the Site Supervisor will make certain that the employee receives cross training in other phases of custodian work. This ensures that we have a pool of employees with variable skill sets.
Promotional and career development opportunities are also ensured by the current job posting system. All employees are informed of available positions and all eligible employees are encouraged to take advantage of this system. Only when there are no qualified internal candidates, will NWS seek an outside candidate to fill an open position.
